Happy Birthday Senya!

Dear Smiley,

So last Saturday, you turned one. And I guess you have had enough of sharing EVERYTHING with Ava. The same due date, the same delivery date, the same birthing suite, the same recovery room at Huntington Hospital, the same birthday party, the same cake ... (insert sound of record scratching here)... what?!?! You want to have something of your own? Well, okay.

Saturday, you had a fever, so you were unable to participate in all of the birthday festivities. You made a surprise appearance at the end of your party, but the day was spent pretty much being held by me and Grandma. Maybe it was all part of a grand plan to tell me that you want your own gig. (I do only have one Red Special Plate in the cabinet, you know). So, today was your special day and you didn't have to share it with anyone!

I am shocked at how fast this year has flown by. You have been walking now for two months and are into everything. Yesterday, I walked into the bathroom to find you with a cup, scooping water out of the toilet and drinking it. I shudder to think about the bugs swimming in your little body ... thank goodness you have the antibiotics flowing for the ear infection. You climb onto the couches, chairs, beds, and even into the dishwasher. You love to transfer all of the dirt from the planters onto the patio and remove all clothes from any drawer within your reach. You take this job very seriously.

You love to dance and your favorite show is Jack's Big Music Show. As soon as you hear that catchy little intro, you begin to twist, clap and bounce. You love all animals, but especially dogs. The bigger the better. You wave and blow kisses to anyone who will give you a smile and to those of us who are lucky enough, we get the best open mouth, slobbery kisses all over. You also give the best hugs. Teacher Fannye told me one day that sometimes she is feeling down, but then you give her one of your big hugs and the world is good. More than one person has told us that you are simply good for the soul.

Happy Birthday Little One!
Love, Your Mom and Dad

Happy Birthday Senya, I was hoping that your mom would let you dive into a cake on your own. I looks like you enjoyed it.
