BFFs ... 30 years and counting!

I have been waiting to post about my "girls weekend" until I got copies of all the photos, but I just can't wait any longer. These two photos will have to do. A couple of weeks ago, the girls from Fillmore had a little getaway to Northern California. We have been planning this trip for nearly a year ... which is what you have to do when you live in four different states and have six husbands, six jobs, and 16 1/2 kids to make arrangements for our 5 days trip. Man ... was it worth it.

Our "home base" was Tamlyn's house in Fairfield. She was such a great host. Not only did she keep everyone stuffed with all of the food no adult should eat (everyday was like a middle school bus trip ... dorritos and canned bean dip? who eats that stuff?), she decorated each of our rooms with framed pics of us. There were pictures of coaches, dances, games, old boyfriends, sleepovers, holidays, graduations ... oh the memories.

For our entertainment, we stayed in Cambria in a little beach hotel one night and visited Hearst Castle. We went to San Francisco, took an Alcatraz tour, went to the Jelly Belly Factory, went to Old Sac to dinner on the river and to a comedy show. We also had planned a surprise baby shower for TK. She looks so cute with little "Jake the Snake Martin Scores Another Touchdown" in her belly!

The best part, however, was just being with the gang again. There is a new book out called "The Girls of Ames" about a group of girls who have been best friends for 40 years. In that book, there is a quote that says something like "you never really know someone unless you were there." That is how I feel about Tam, Cheryl, Kristin, Kristine, and Crystal. They probably know me better than Ammon does. And regardless of the distance between us or the crazy and different lives we have, there is this great bond and comfort between us.

I have lots of wishes for Ava and Senya, but one of them is definately that they will be so blessed to have such great friends.

P.S. Thank you Ammon for being so supportive and taking such great care of the girls while I was gone. They were spoiled rotten and I don't think they even missed me!

Awesome blog, Deb! We talked about it already, but it's definitely no small gift to have lifelong friends...I'm fortunate to have some myself.

See you Monday...hooray...haha.

This just makes me cry! You are so good with words. I had forgot the name of the book, so now I can go get it. I was working on a "project" with the pics but will just hurry and burn a cd for y'all...
