Deer Hunt 2009

Ava, Senya and I flew to Utah for the deer hunt. Have I mentioned I love my new part time work schedule? This was the first hunt for the girls, and I would have to say that it was a complete success. Here is one of the bucks my Dad shot. Pretty nice, Dad!

O.k. all of you city people. Calm down. My 4-year old did not witness the demise and decapitation of Bambi's dad. Yet. She cannot wait until she is eight so she can go hunting with Grandpa Raun.

Until Ava is eight --- and I am pretty sure every year afterwards when she realizes that it is hard work climbing those mountains---she'll be with the women in our family on widow's weekend. Lunch, shopping, playing, and catching up with aunts and cousins. It is such a fun tradition. My Aunt Cilla thought it was 31 years and running, but I am pretty sure it goes back further than that.

Cutest Dorothy? Probably.

My Mom and Aunt Cindy taking all of the kids shopping for new pajamas and ice cream. When all of the girls arrived, my Mom had fur purses for them stocked with everything you need for a successful shopping weekend: money, candy bracelets, note pads, pens, lip gloss, and a Snickers. Those girls were ready to shop!

Lunch on Saturday with the girls.

Then we went home so the girls could see their Grandpa. This was Ava's first time digging for potatoes and carrots in the garden. It was like mining for gold. She told me that I have a talent for digging potatoes. Always a good back-up if the law thing doesn't work out.

Super girl riding Elvis. I'm pretty sure Ava changed her clothes at least once in the four days we Utah --- although looking at the pictures makes me wonder!

Don't even worry Deb... the pic of all of us at lunch is now my desktop background on my comp :) I am so glad you could make it up!! Wish Kell and Theresa could've come and then the whole old gang would've been there!

Debbie,
I did not know you guys had such a fun tradition over the Deer Hunt! That is great. Looks like your dad shot a nice one.
By the way, for a split second I thought Grandma Roach was with you at lunch - then I realized it was Aunt Cilla. Tara said the same thing.
