I'm not sure when it began, but I remember watching The Wide World of Sports on Saturday afternoons with my family. I loved it when fights were aired. I loved hearing stories about my grandfathers boxing when they were in the military. I once saved a bunch of those bar codes off of boxes of Wheaties and sent in for a set of boxing trading cards. I have watched every Rocky movie many times and to this day, cannot pass one up if it is on cable.
... As I write this, I realize it is a little weird that I have this fascination because I cannot stand confrontation in my real life.
The fascination for me has continued. Luckily, Ammon likes it too. We have HBO and Showtime solely for the fights. Pay-per-view fights are a line item in our budget. On the night after I had Senya, I was in the hospital and missing a big fight. While I was nursing her at about 11:00 p.m., I was flipping through the t.v. channels and could not believe my luck when it was being re-broadcasted on HBO. My nurse came in and saw the fight (particularly brutal one) and asked me if I was o.k. She came back into the room several more times during the next few hours to "see how I was feeling." My guess is she thought I was having some sort of postpartum thing going on.
Before Saturday, we had never been to a live fight. So, when Ammon told me he got tickets to a heavyweight fight at Staples, I was PUMPED. To top it off, it was a title fight with one of my favorite boxers - Vitaly Klitschko. I won't bore everyone with stats and background, but let me just say, the fight had many similarities to Rocky IV. It was AWESOME.
On top of watching one of my favorite boxers, we had floor seats which put us right in the middle of some "A-List"-ers. Within a few rows of us, sat Stallone, Arnold, Pete Rose, Colby Bryant, Mickey Rourke, 50 Cent, Michael Douglas, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Sean Penn to name a few. My favorite though, (drum roll please), was ...
Ivan Drago - Dolph Lundgren. When I first met Ammon, he had the same flat-top hair cut and I thought he looked exactly like Ivan Drago. Be still my heart :)) Let me just say, Ivan and Ammon are still the best looking guys I have ever seen.
And lastly, here is a picture of Vitaly Klitschko. Does anyone else think he is a dead ringer for one of my in-laws?

1. You're nuts.
2. Where are all your camera pics of the A-listers?
3. That dude could definately be a Clinger. How sure are you that he's not?...
I just showed the boys that picture and Gabe asked me how old his dad was when that picture was taken. I told Gabe it was last week. Too funny!
